As I have mentioned, on other pages of this site, the Isle of Harris is well known for its many beautiful beaches which you can plainly see in the above photograph. Throughout Harris there are countless areas of natural beauty and when somebody is visiting the island for the first time the views can prove extremely distracting if you are driving. An Important Note For Walkers
Many visitors to the Isle of Harris enjoy walking in the gorgeous countryside and the Harris hills. While there are walks on the Isle of Harris suitable for all types of people, with walks ranging from easy to challenging, it is extremely important to keep safety in mind at all times. Paramount to your safety is wearing the correct clothing. Even if the weather is fine when you set off it is always wise to include clothing for poor weather conditions. Harris weather is amongst the most changeable in Scotland and a fine day can suddenly change for the worse.
Another great idea, for safety, is to make sure that people know exactly when you set out, where you plan to walk and when you should be expected back home. It is always a good idea to have somebody to call when you get back to your lodgings to let them know you returned safely.
