Frequently Asked Questions

Visitors To The Isle of Harris

Q. How Do I Book The Accommodation?
A. IsleOfHarrisSelfCateringHouse.co.uk only provides information about the self catering accommodation available on the Isle of Harris, we are not a booking agency. You can contact the accommodation owners directly, download their information (if it is provided in a pdf) or visit their website directly by following the link next to the photographs.

Q. Can I Use The Photographs On You Site On My Own Site?
A. NO. Under no circumstances must the content of this site be replicated in any form. Unfortunately we do not own the copyright of the photographs and images on this site as we have liscensed them from their respective copyright owners for use here.

Q. How Can I Find Out More About The Outer Hebrides?
A. There are numerous sites about the Outer Hebrides but we suggest a quick look at the Virtual Hebrides and a search on Google.

Q. Is It the Outer Hebrides or the Western Isles?
A.
Yes this can be confusing as many people know these islands as the Outer Hebrides. A while back the Post Office began using the name Western Isles as the official postal address but if you use the term Outer Hebrides your post will, most probably, still arrive. Both terms are ancient so it is really a matter of whichever you prefer.

Q. How Do I Get To The Isle of Harris?
A.
You will find details of how to get to Harris on our Isle of Harris Travel page.

Isle of Harris Accommodation Providers

Q. How Do I Get My Property/Accommodation Listed?
A.
Unfortunately we are not accepting new listings unless they are members of the Enjoy Hebrides Network If you become a member we should be informed immediately and your accommodation will be added in due course.

Q. I Am Listed On Visit Hebrides So Why AM I Not Listed Here?
A.
We have no relationship with official sites as we, personally, feel that their policies have been purposely designed to benefit the few rather than give every accommodation provider equal and fair representation. This is why we only deal with the Enjoy Hebrides Network of sites and associated sites as we feel that they provide a much better, and fairer, online prescence which should have been provided, in the first instance, by official sites such as Visit Scotland etc. If you feel that you are not getting the service you deserve from the official sites please contact you MP or MSP directly with your complaints.
